O: Exercised bird. Made 8 full passes with ease - symmetrical, controlled flight, navigated obstacles, hit perches well. On 8th pass tried to rebound from wall and grounded. Recovered to high perches quickly and made 2 more passes for a total of 10. Found no scraps, no casts. Dropped 82g chick and rabbit.

O: Entered for bucket clean. Changed water. Removed several casts, no scraps. Dropped 80 g of rat and chick. Back perch had fallen out of one end- put back up (found bolt, could not find nut) with bolt and zip tied to help keep in place.

A: BAR. Bird still very flighty, although moving slowly around enclosure helps. From what I could see, his tail appears to be growing in well and I didn't find any broken feathers in the enclosure, so our current method for cleaning/feeding seems to be working well.

All of 395's tail in blood except LT4 which is missing. LT5 is very immature, in blood. All other feathers are 1/4 to 1/2 grown, in blood.
Weight change: +32 g (6 %)

A: Both BAR. 395's tail is partially grown. Some stress bars- may result on breakage
points later, will want to continue to monitor.

bird's to enclosure after cleaning. CH blind dropped 180 g of chick and pigeon.

A: Both BAR, extremely stress. Unfortunately, condition of tail has diminished since last check. May need to consider CC if bird continues to be unable to grow in those feathers

A: Both BAR. Both birds are extremely nervous, even for their species and they appear
to feed off each other's anxiety. They are extremely flighty and will react/fly into
walls even when moving extremely slowly and deliberately in enclosure. They are eating
well, so I suggest increasing the amount of time between cleanings, especially because
they are too stressed to do any substantial cleaning anyways. It would be best to
hose clean on days when they are caught for weights to help maintain the enclosure.
This will all further help prevent them from breaking feathers as they grow in.

P: Change to E5D to enter enclosure to scrap/change water. Hose clean on weigh days
while birds are in hand.

S: Caught up for surgery.

O: See surgery notes for details. HR arrhythmia noted prior to anesthesia, pre-medicated with 0.3 mg/kg atropine IM as well as torb and HR stabilized. Cleaned, debrided and closed wound on L shoulder in 2 layers. Took x-rays of shoulders while bird was under GA: there may be a slight old fracture at the L medial coracoid but in very good alignment and healed. Patient seemed more neuro when coming out of anesthesia (lots of intention tremors).

A: Repaired wound on L shoulder, took x-rays to confirm no new fractures, etc. Wound closed well but still unsure how it occurred with bird in care.

Pronounced sinus arrythmia noted on auscultation prior to anesthesia
- elected to pre-medicate with atropine as well as torb.  Arrythmia
resolved shortly after atropine.  Anesthetized via isoflurane
facemask, then intubated with 2.5 uncuffed ET tube.  Placed in
dorsal recumbency, plucked feathers around L shoulder and scrubbed
site for surgery.  Debrided edges of wound.  Closed muscle and
skin in separate layers with 5-0 webcryl in simple interrupted
patterns.  Took x-rays of shoulder with bird under GA. Patient
recovered uneventfully from anesthesia.

O: Blood strike-through on bandage over L shoulder, bandage also slipping off wound site. Deep circular wound with bruising over the cranial aspect of the humerus/shoulder. Recovered with duoderm gel, telfa/tegaderm.

Cleaned up feathers with dilute chlorhex and found large skin tear over L ventral shoulder. Not actively bleeding, but is a deep wound with tendon and bone exposure. Wound does not appear to extend into the crop. Soft cartilage/callus like lump palpated just proximal of the wound. Cleaned area and packed wound with duoderm gel. Bandaged with telfa/tega. Gave meds PO and OD. Dropped 51 g of small chopped rat and pigeon.
